Singha Thai soft opened on September 15 in the Williamsburg Shopping Center, after more than two years of preparation. The restaurant fills a snug 639 square feet at 2900 N. Sycamore Street in Arlington.

The menu covers pad Thai, drunken noodles and panang curry, plus the Singha noodle, a house mix of the pad Thai and drunken noodle recipes. The best first order is the crispy larb chicken popcorn, a staff favorite: fried popcorn chicken tossed in chili, roasted rice powder, scallions, cilantro and lime juice over rice. The very first customer went for the drunken noodles with chicken and praised the portions.

The place is built mostly for takeout, with three two-person tables, a mural of tropical birds and palm leaves, and stools along the window over the parking lot. For neighbors, the most appealing part is that it is a Thai spot they can walk to.
