MUI Supper Club is an IVEA restaurant. We publish this story to introduce our own restaurant; it is not an independent review.

MUI Supper Club is an IVEA restaurant at 967 Rose Ave. in Pike & Rose, North Bethesda, MD, and its soft opening begins on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. It is in Maryland, but MUI names Arlington, Tysons and Northern Virginia among the places it serves, and for diners here it is the most exclusive Japanese counter on the Maryland side of the river: six seats, twelve courses and fish flown in from Tokyo's Toyosu Market.

Why make the trip: the counter. The omakase runs about three hours for six guests at a time. There is no menu to choose from; the chef cooks what arrived that morning and explains each course. MUI lists three tracks, Signature, Seasonal and Vegetarian, and the counter is reservations only, so book before you cross the bridge. The chef's name is still a secret: MUI says he trained for years in Japan, cooked at celebrated restaurants across the United States and holds a Michelin star, and that the name will be revealed before opening.

The best of the menu for a first visit. The A5 Japanese or Australian wagyu with black garlic miso is the headline, and the Hot Rock lets the table sear Australian or A5 Japanese wagyu. The Toyosu Market list changes daily and runs from bluefin akami, chutoro and otoro to Hokkaido uni and kinmedai. From the chef specials, the miso-glazed Black Cod, the crispy Whole Branzino, the 44-ounce Aged Prime Tomahawk and the Lobster Uni Pasta are the most impressive plates to share. MUI has not published prices yet.

Getting there. From Tysons and the Dulles corridor, take I-495 north over the American Legion Bridge toward Rockville Pike; Pike & Rose has covered garage parking with the first hours free. From Arlington, Metro works: ride to Metro Center and take the Red Line to North Bethesda, a short walk from the restaurant.

Plan the night. MUI is open Wednesday to Monday, 4 to 10 p.m., until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and closed Tuesday. Walk-ins are welcome at the bar and lounge; the dining room and the omakase counter take reservations by email at info@muisupperclub.com or by phone at (888) 869-1696. Tell them about allergies or dietary needs, including vegetarian and halal, when you book. There is no dress code.

For a group from Northern Virginia. MUI hosts private celebrations for up to 40 guests, corporate dinners for up to 24 and a chef's table for up to 8, with a menu written for the occasion and one contact from booking to the last pour. It is the best reason this fall to plan a Japanese dinner across the Potomac.
