Falls Church's most anticipated sushi opening blends Korean flair
Ian Sushi, a new Japanese restaurant with Korean-inspired dishes, is opening at 112 S. West Street in Falls Church's Modera apartment complex. The restaurant features flame-seared sushi, specialty rolls, and entrees with movie-themed names.
Ian Sushi is preparing to open at 112 S. West Street in Falls Church, bringing Japanese sushi with Korean flavor influences to the Modera mixed-use development. The restaurant is currently hiring staff and completing buildout of its space.
The menu centers on flame-seared sushi paired with house-made sauces. Specialty rolls carry playful movie-themed names like "Crunching Tiger, Hidden Salmon," which combines salmon, imitation crab, avocado and crispy garlic, and "The Fresh Prince of Bulgogi," featuring bulgogi, avocado, sesame dressing, teriyaki and sweet chili. The most distinctive offerings are signature aburi nigiri selections with bacon-wrapped shrimp, garlic steak salmon, and seared beef tartare. Traditional nigiri options include eggplant tempura, salmon and onion, and white fish with aged kimchi.
Beyond sushi, the best first orders might include entrees such as "The Dark Pork Rises," a tonkotsu ramen topped with bean sprouts, mushrooms and nori, or "Udon Identity," a classic udon preparation. The restaurant also plans appetizers including agedashi tofu, pan-fried gyoza, and crispy seaweed topped with sweet shrimp and guacamole. Dinner party-sized platters will be available as well.
Ian Sushi will be open Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will be the second restaurant in the Modera development, joining My Home Thai Bistro.
