Bonsai Sushi closes in Crystal City
Bonsai Sushi, a Japanese restaurant on Crystal City's Restaurant Row, has closed after operating for several years. The 1,300-square-foot space at 553 23rd Street S. is now listed for lease.
Bonsai Sushi has shuttered its location in Crystal City, joining several other recent closures in the Arlington neighborhood. The restaurant closed a couple of months before early November 2026, according to property listings.
The sushi restaurant occupied a small storefront at 553 23rd Street S., on Restaurant Row between Freddie's Beach Bar and Enjera Restaurant. The casual spot served a range of Japanese fare beyond sushi and sashimi, including teriyaki, ramen, udon, katsu, yakisoba and tempura.
The property is now listed for lease as the owner seeks a new tenant. The closure follows that of nearby Los Tios Grill, which closed in late August 2026.
